Getting started

Open your first project

A Rook project holds your building setup, wind analysis, and shear wall layout.

Start from a drawing

  1. Open Rook and sign in.
  2. Click New project or Open, then choose a local folder for the project file.
  3. Prepare a PDF markup of your multi-level building in Bluebeam or another PDF editor:
    • Draw markup on the plan backgrounds first.
    • Copy the markup to a blank sheet in the same location. In Bluebeam, select the markup, press Ctrl+C, then Ctrl+Shift+V to paste in place.
    • Use POLYGON elements for building boundaries.
    • Use LINE elements for walls.
  4. Import the PDF into Rook.
  5. Set the drawing scale.

Start from Revit

  1. Install the Revit add-in from Revit → Install add-in inside Rook Lateral (Revit 2027).
  2. In Revit, sign in on the Rook Lateral ribbon, set the lateral frame, and send selected walls. See Send model geometry to Rook.

Minimum setup before analysis

  1. Define building levels and floor heights on the Setup tab.
  2. Enter wind load inputs on Setup (basic wind speed, exposure, length, and width).
  3. Place or import wall lines on the Design tab before shear wall design.
