Draw and edit shear walls

Draw and edit shear walls

Shear walls live on the Design tab. Use the level tabs to move between stories.

From a PDF drawing

  1. Go to File → Import → Load PDF and choose your markup PDF.
  2. Rook extracts annotations: LINE / polyline markups become walls; POLYGON markups become group boundaries.
  3. Set scale under View → Scale if needed.
  4. Review walls on each level on the Design canvas.

From Revit

  1. Send or import geometry (see Send model geometry to Rook).
  2. On Design, review imported wall lines per level.
  3. Select walls in the Properties panel to edit loads, enable/disable DXF candidates, or remove walls.

Add a wall manually

  1. On Design, click Add wall.
  2. Enter length, orientation (Horizontal / Vertical), and levels.
  3. Click Add wall on plan, then click to place. Press R to rotate or Esc to cancel.

Other canvas tools:

  • Create Isolated Line / Add Wall to Isolated Line — for walls outside the shared tributary split
  • Draw Opening — diaphragm opening polygon
  • Layer toggles for Background, Group Outline, Walls, Wall Lines, and Dim Lines

Edit walls

Select a wall to drag endpoints, edit Properties (wall weight, dead load, point load, FRT, sheathing, straps, holdowns), merge multi-selected walls, or remove a wall or stack.

Walls from PDF, Revit, and Add wall are created as Traditional. Collected wind forces from Setup feed the wall design automatically.
